Rethrow cover

In 2019, the design of a C2C marketplace dedicated to vintage computing began. My role was to develop its brand image, from its name and visual identity to the creation of web and print materials.

Rethrow brand name

Brand Name

The name Rethrow echoes the past: “retro”, but also the idea of throwing again, “re-throw,” as one might do when giving the memories of childhood a second chance.

Logotype

In line with the name, the logotype depicts a stylized arrow moving backward and pointing toward the past. The rainbow acts as a nod to the era when electronics brands highlighted the transition to color in their products.

Update

In 2025, the final version of the e-commerce platform was launched. I adapted the visual identity accordingly in order to offer an alternative that remained coherent while feeling more modern and legible. The logotype retains its core characteristics, including its overall shape and rainbow, but this time through a much more minimalist approach.

Colors & Typography

The typography draws from the codes of iconic typefaces from the period, such as Avant Garde, with an ultra-geometric approach and a distinctive use of recognizable ligatures. The color palette preserves the spirit of the original identity, this time using solid color fields for a more timeless result.

Business Cards

The business card design references the well-known look of 3.5-inch floppy disks introduced in the late 1980s. It features their distinctive visual codes, as well as the option to fill in the blank section with personal information, just like on a real floppy disk.

Flyers

The flyer design is inspired by vintage advertisements for computer hardware. It uses a classic layout, with a photograph overlaid by a tagline occupying the upper two-thirds and an information block placed in the remaining section.

Alpha Website

A preliminary version of the marketplace was designed to provide an initial preview of what the website could offer. It includes clear and quick access to key categories such as brands, as well as simplified search through the navigation bar.
